By The 1970s Ladies’ Fashion Has Changed Beyond Expectations
By 1970 girls selected who they needed to be and if they felt like wearing a short mini skirt one day and a maxi dress, midi skirt or hot pants the next day – that is what they went and did.
For eveningwear girls often wore full length maxi dresses, evening trousers or glamorous halter neck catsuits. Some of the dresses oozed Motown glamour, others less so.

The short check flared skirt was very fashionable, as was the empire kind of the diamond check pattern mini dress. Right – Halter neck catsuit pattern of 1971. Exotic and tropical prints were a mirrored image of designers gaining inspiration from international travel destinations.
For evening in the early seventies, either straight or flared Empire line dresses with a sequined fabric bodice and exotic sleeves were the style for a dressy occasion. Image of office girls wearing short mini dresses. Fashion history and costume history of the 1970s.
One often worn style was the Grandmama dress with a high neck. Sometimes the stand neck was pie-crust frilled, or lace trimmed. Regularly they were made from a floral print design in a warm brushed fabric or viscose rayon crepe which draped and gathered well into empire line styles.
Right – Characteristic short and mini dresses worn at an office party in 1972 / 3. At the front a young girl wears a long floral granny dress that covers her knees.
Another hugely successful evening form of the 1970s was the halter neck dress, either maxi or above knee.

At a disco, 1970s girls might don hot pants. In contrast to the reveal all mini, a girl would all of a sudden confound men by fully covering her legs and retort that mini dresses were an exploitation, rather than a liberation of women.
In response however, The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) stated “Automatic enrolment will give millions of people the opportunity to save into a pension with a contribution from their employer. Only one in three workers in the private sector is contributing to a workplace pension and our research indicates that 94 per cent of employers say they will maintain or increase their contribution levels. The reforms are being phased in gradually in order to help businesses adjust to the change and are introducing measures including a three-month waiting period to save companies approximately ?170 million each year.”

Women long sleeved tops
Mens long sleeved tops are on sale everywhere and one can pick from designs and styles with several different necklines. Many are plain and casual whereas others are made of more substantial material that would make them suitable for having on in the workplace and for attending meetings in when you want to look quite formal. This type is usually created from good quality plain coloured material and can be matched up with suits made up of long pants and jackets. All you need to add is a pair of sturdy brogues to look complete.
Long sleeved tops can be found in block shades that can easily matched up with other attire and they can be purchased with emblems, checks, lines and numbers displayed on them. Mens garments for the upper body that cover the arms completely can also be found in bright colours and have floral patterns all over them. This particular variety is great for wearing with long shorts on holiday.
Tops in long sleeved designs with collars and buttons down the middle usually also have stiff strips of material at the wrists that fasten up with small buttons. When going out for a special dinner or reception, you can buy some cuff links to add to the buttonholes. This sort of subtle detail makes males of all ages look very smart. These accessories for tops can be bought in silver or gold and can be quite ornate. Mens clothing stores usually stock these small extras along with their shirt collections so that you have everything you need in one place.
long floral dresses
Long floral dresses are great for wearing to formal occasions such as dinners and receptions. Maxi frocks with buds and blooms all over them are sold in shops and online in empire line designs and others are sold in mini styles with wide skirts attached to them. They can look very chic if teamed up with cropped jackets and high heeled shoes. All you need to add is a clutch bag with bead work sewn onto its surface and you have a very presentable and stylish ensemble.
Flowery gowns and long dresses can be very tight fitting for evening wear and will look very sleek if worn with a pair of platform shoes in a colour that matches the buds and stems that cover the surface of the material. Ballet pumps or slip on sandals can often be found with the same floral designs all over them so that an outfit can be built that has the one naturally-inspired theme to it.
Dresses with foliage on them that almost reaches your ankles can often be found in knitted fabrics. They are very warm and cosy to wear in colder weather and also appear quite smart, which makes them a first class and comfortable choice for evening occasions.
Floral designed garments can be very demure if the flowers are small and delicate. Jersey dresses with this look are great in black at this time of year with red roses and petals all over them. Green leaves here and there also look pretty printed over the surface of these frocks. If you add a pair of thick black tights and suede court shoes you are ready to go out looking very feminine and together for work or leisure purposes.
